Why Craig Whiting
Your STRONGEST voice for Eagle Mountain First! Your CHAMPION for:
Infrastructure & balanced growth: as a member of the Planning Commission, Craig spoke against 1000+ proposed lots in multiple subdivisions, and voted to restrict the city from selling water to residential developers, in order to preserve commercial-designated land for future businesses, and balance the population growth while road / sewer infrastructure improves.
Negotiations with developers, maximizing the CITY’S interests, not just theirs! Craig has closed several hundred real estate transactions, including hundreds of acres of land, and numerous subdivisions. He knows their language and brings the most real estate negotiating talent ever seen in a candidate for Eagle Mtn office, ensuring the CITY ALWAYS WINS. He has a master’s degree in real estate development - the #1 graduate in his class.
Economic development: Craig owns & operates a successful large real estate brokerage (Prime Real Estate Experts, with 90+ agents), and is a highly decorated, award-winning broker. He will leverage his business expertise & network to lead the city to prosperity & help drive businesses to Eagle Mtn.
Eagle Mountain’s rural character: fighting for animal rights, the wildlife corridor, trails, outdoor recreation (ATV, mountain biking, parks, etc.), the rodeo, & farmer’s market: Craig & his family have horses, goats, and chickens, and are avid backpackers. He has fought for the causes above as a member of the Planning Commission, and asks that instead of donations to his campaign, that you donate to the Eagle Mountain Nature & Wildlife Alliance instead.
Affordable housing, increased lot sizes, & a detailed housing vision for a strong Eagle Mtn: Craig co-authored the city’s mortgage assistance program - the most accessible and usable down payment assistance program in ANY city. He also brought to the city the most effective affordable housing solution ever offered by a private entity - Rocky Mountain Homes Fund (rmhf.net) - which program offers THE BEST pathway to homeownership for low & moderate income households (check it out!), and can only be accessed through Craig’s brokerage. Although Craig advocates for increasing lot size, he has created a comprehensive housing plan to create a balanced, long-term successful community with diverse property types.
Culture, arts, & community: Craig’s family has a performance group (Torch Family Music) with 500k+ followers across various platforms. They’ve participated in plays together and advocate for (and understand the benefit of) the ARTS. Craig will fight to strengthen the arts, culture, & community in Eagle Mtn, such as having a performance stage in the downtown plan, and building an eventual rec center. Craig teaches 4 values as the culture of his brokerage - LOVE, SERVE, CONNECT, TRANSFORM - and will bring these values to city leadership.
At the end of the day, it all comes down to EXECUTION. Craig’s success in family, business, and community, provides the evidence needed: what he’s involved in, it succeeds, and he will deliver for you.
Craig’s closing argument:
In a city where the vote of 3 city council members can enact the will of any developer, I implore you to consider the strength and talent of the team you vote in to negotiate and achieve the highest interests of the city. In a city that will experience significant economic development in the years ahead, & struggles with infrastructure issues, I implore you to consider the business acumen and tangible business successes of the candidates. In a city that values its rural, western heritage, and outdoor recreation, I implore you to consider the culture of the candidates. In a city that will experience more housing development in the decades ahead than ANY city in Utah, I implore you to consider the real estate & planning expertise of those who guide and implement the vision.
Frankly, I don’t want this seat, but as I personally pondered the above thoughts while contemplating a run for city council, I realized I have a unique background and skill set desperately needed by the city … and so I filed for candidacy.
I understand the time, energy, & sacrifice such commitment will require. You have 2 choices for city council this year. If I’m not already your 1st choice, please ask yourself sincerely if there’s someone else better to implement the Eagle Mountain First initiatives outlined on this website, and then make me your 2nd choice. I would be honored and humbled to serve you.
… plus, I’m the only candidate that looks like Chip Gaines. :-)
May God bless all our efforts as we strive to make Eagle Mountain a TOP CHOICE city in the state of Utah.
